About the Faculty:
JoAnne Reifsnyder, PhD, MBA, MSN, FAAN
Dr. Reifsnyder is a seasoned nurse executive with more than 35 years of experience in clinical practice, administration, consulting, education, and research. She completed a postdoctoral fellowship in psychosocial oncology at the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing and holds a PhD in nursing from the University of Maryland, a Master's Degree in nursing from Thomas Jefferson University, and a Master's Degree in business administration from George Washington University. In 2002, Dr. Reifsnyder co-developed and was the coordinator of a palliative care minor at the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing, and taught both core courses to nursing, social work, and medical students. In 2009, she led the development of a Masters' program in health policy at Jefferson College of Population Health, Thomas Jefferson University.
Dr. Reifsnyder has held executive and leadership roles in both for profit and not for profit healthcare settings. Her career clinical expertise has been palliative and end-of-life care for older adults. She is currently the chief nursing officer for Genesis HealthCare where she has positioned improving palliative and end-of-life care as a strategic priority for the company. Reifsnyder was co-founder and partner in Ethos Consulting Group, LLC, a company focused on program development, education/training, and research/evaluation to advance end-of-life care. She was formerly the director of the hospice program for the VNA of Greater Philadelphia and was director of patient services for Samaritan Hospice.
Dr. Reifsnyder was president of the Board of Directors for HPNA in 2012, and currently serves on the Board of the Hospice Foundation of America. She is a member of American Nurses Association, the American Organization of Nurse Executives, the National Gerontological Nurses Association, HPNA, and Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Nursing. In 2016, Dr. Reifsnyder was appointed to National Academies for Sciences Engineering and Medicine Serious Illness Roundtable on Quality Care for People with Serious Illness. In 2019, she was appointed as a federal advisor to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Health Infection Control Practice Advisory Committee (HICPAC) by HHS Secretary Alex Azar.

Donna Stevens, MHA
Donna Stevens is the program director of OACIS (Optimizing Advanced Complex Illness Support) Palliative Medicine at Leigh Valley Health Network, a 2014 Circle of Life Award recipient. The program includes an inpatient consult service, a nationally recognized home-based service, and an outpatient clinic. With a clinical background in occupational therapy, she has spent the majority of her career in psychiatry administration, prior to palliative medicine. Her skills lie in leadership and team building with a strong emphasis on keeping the patient perspective in focus. She is a consultant to the Center to Advance Palliative Care (CAPC) and has co-authored publications and presented at various national conferences regarding home-based palliative care and OACIS.
